Those allergic to ginger may find that they are also allergic to other members of the Zingiberaceae family, including various species of ginger, turmeric, and cardamom, so be careful in their consumption.

This allergy is caused by exposure to or consumption of onions usually raw onions. Symptoms include bloating and digestive discomfort. However, sometimes cooking the vegetables before consumption might help overcome this allergy in some cases. Usually those who are allergic to onions could also be allergic to garlic.

Celery is one of the most common foods to cause oral allergy syndrome in adults, and its usually to the celery root more so than the stalk. Some reports suggest that celery spice is as likely to cause a reaction in sensitive people as raw celery, so be very cautious even in the herbs/seasonings in your dish.

Monosodium glutamate (MSG)

Although it has no distinct taste itself, monosodium glutamate (MSG) stimulates our taste buds and makes a variety of foods taste better. It is the sodium salt of the non-essential amino acid, glutamic acid. Symptoms appear an hour or so after the consumption of MSG food and last two to three hours.

In certain people, salt shortage in the body can occur and become symptom-producing. Salt is a natural antihistamine, so salt intake can prevent excess histamine production. [If you have high blood pressure, seek medical advice]

It is a hypersensitivity to dietary substances from the yolk or whites of eggs, causing an overreaction of the immune system leading to severe physical symptoms. These symptoms come on very suddenly, usually within minutes or even seconds of eating an egg or something with egg in it.

Allergy is usually due to substances containing shellfish, scaly fish or crustaceans. It can often cause severe reactions, and some people can even react to the vapors from cooking shellfish. The most severe seafood allergy reaction is called anaphylaxis which requires emergency aid.

Nuts and Peanuts

Peanuts are among the most common allergy-causing foods, and they often find their way into things you wouldn't imagine. These legumes can cause a condition called anaphylaxis, which is quite severe as it can make someone's airways swell and blood pressure drop.

In some people an allergy to pepper is very obvious while other people have a difficult time pinpointing that it is the pepper causing the allergic type reaction or symptoms. In addition, you will want to be careful with other types of peppers, both dried and fresh, as it is not uncommon for an individual who is allergic to one type of pepper to be allergic to some or all peppers/chilies.
